Renting long term in Antalya when you work at fairs half the year

I work in exhibition logistics, so from February to June I am basically not at home. Moved to Antalya two years ago from Cologne and the flat search was strange because of this.

Some practical things nobody explains:

  • Long term contracts here are one year, but landlords in tourist districts will not sign one if they can rent by week in summer. Muratpaşa and Kepez are easier than Lara for this.

  • - Deposit is usually one month, sometimes two, and it is normal to pay a full year in advance for a discount. If you travel a lot this is actually convenient.

  • - Aidat, the building fee, is separate and can be 15 percent of the rent in a complex with a pool. Ask the number before, not after.

  • - I keep a folder of listings from https://turk.estate/en/ because prices in the same street change a lot between winter and summer, and I only search in winter now.

  • - Furnished means different things. Twice I saw "furnished" and it was a sofa and nothing else.

  • This year I signed for two years. The landlord asked me why I need it so long, I said because I do not want to do this search again.
